Media Clubs
|
Welcome to Tune In, the home of NIACE media clubs. Here you'll find help and guidance on setting up and running a media club, hints and tips on what to watch, what to talk about and what it all means, and a feedback section where you can tell us all about your clubs. This is the start of what we hope will become the new version of book groups for the 21st century!
So...What is a Media Club? |
|
The idea behind Media Clubs is that you meet with friends - old or new - colleagues or family, share some coffee, socialise and talk about TV, film and other forms of media. Media Clubs aren't that different to book clubs - they are simply groups of people from all walks of life getting together to discuss the things they've been watching.
The idea is to make the pleasure of watching TV and other media more than just a personal one and to create an environment where everyone has the opportunity to share their thoughts, emotions and viewing passions with others. The point is not for everyone to agree about any given programme or subject matter but for everyone to have the chance to talk, and, of course, listen!
It's as simple as 1,2,3. All it takes is a group of people, a timeslot and agreement to watch either together as a group or separately.
Media clubs also provide the opportunity to get to grips with how programmes are made, what choices programme-makers have and the decisions they make, what choices viewers have and, through discussion, show that different people can have very different responses to the same content.
