What does the project do?The project aims to provide the first ever qualification for staff providing activities in elderly health care settings. In so doing, NAPA, the national organisation that represents this neglected profession, aims to provide recognition and a career structure. Activities are not an add-on luxury in care, they are an indispensable part of a care package.
Progress/achievements/interesting developments which are/have taken place:The qualification, at NVQ Level 3, has now been validated by City & Guilds. The course is called “Therapeutic Activities in Care Settings for Older People” and the first course is to run from January 2003. The grant from ACLF has enabled NAPA to offer places on this course at a very subsidised rate.
