Thematic Evidence

The Inquiry has sought to stimulate wide and vigorous debate. In order to ensure this, the Inquiry has adopted a thematic approach. It has looked at the critical issues that will face our society in the coming decades, and considered how adult learning can equip us to meet these challenges. Nine themes were identified to provide a focus for the work:

bullet

Prosperity, Employment and Work

bullet

Demography and Social Structure

bullet

Well-Being and Happiness

bullet

Migration and Communities

bullet

Technological Change

bullet

Poverty Reduction

bullet

Citizenship and Belonging

bullet

Crime and Social Exclusion

bullet

Sustainable Development

Evidence on each of these themes was gathered through public calls for evidence and expert seminars. Click on the theme to see the calls for evidence, the summaries of the seminar discussions, and the papers that were presented at each of the seminars.

Other Evidence

In addition to the Inquiry’s thematic approach, a selection of evidence has also been received in the following areas:

bulletNations, Regions and Localities
bulletSectors
bulletSocial Productivity
bulletBackground

Inquiry supplementary papers on sectors, public value and the devolved administrations are also available.
