Membership Terms and Conditions

Members shall be bound during the continuance of membership by these Terms and Conditions including any amendments made in accordance with the details set out below.
1. Membership Applications
1.1 Applications for membership will be considered by NIACE who have the right to refuse applications.
1.2 By submitting an application form by email, the Member is deemed to have signed the application form.
1.3 Applications for reduced Corporate Membership will only be considered once all relevant supporting documentation is received as outlined in the description of the Membership Subscription rates.
1.4 NIACE reserves the right to re-grade a Corporate Member to a more appropriate level, if the relevant information appertaining to the membership level applied for is not received, or proves to be inaccurate in any way (see 1.3 above). Members will be informed of the requirement for re-grade and asked if they wish to continue with their application.
1.5 All information provided by you to us must be true and accurate at the point of applying. In the event of a change of circumstances such as moving jobs, change of contact details you must notify NIACE by phone, email or in writing so that our records are up to date.
2. Membership Payments, Renewals and Cancellations
2.1 Membership is fixed for a period of one calendar year starting on the day you join. Membership will be activated at point of approval of the application but payment must be received within 30 days of receipt of the invoice.
2.2 Payment can be made by credit card (except American Express), cheque, BACS or Direct Debit. If membership payment remains outstanding we will notify you by telephone, email or letter.
2.3 It is the member's responsibility to advise NIACE of their intention not to renew. Subscription payments not received within one month of becoming due will result in the membership being considered lapsed and all services may be suspended pending payment. However, membership charges will continue to accrue, until resignation is received in writing, subject to the cancellation procedure outlined below.
2.4 To cancel your membership you will need to notify us in writing stating a reason which will be recorded for internal use only. Refunds will not be given for cancelled memberships.
3. Membership Levels
3.1. Individual Membership
3.1.1 Individual membership belongs to the individual and not to the organisation regardless of who pays for the membership. Any dispute arising from this must be resolved by the member and their organisation. You will be issued with a membership number which you should use when calling us to help identify you quickly.
3.1.2 It is the Individual Member's responsibility to keep their membership number confidential. NIACE reserves the right to withdraw Membership or to prevent any Member from renewing if the Member is misusing the membership benefits (for example, allowing someone else to use the benefits of their membership package).
3.2. Corporate Membership
3.2.1 Corporate membership is intended for employees of the named member company. Parent or other related companies are expected to join in their own right if employees of those companies wish to receive member benefits, unless otherwise agreed with NIACE.
3.2.2 Corporate Members require a named Corporate Member Representative in order to receive all benefits of the membership package. Corporate membership can be transferred to a different representative within the organisation, but NIACE must be informed of the new representatives contact details.
3.2.3 The individual named as the Corporate Member Representative should have authorisation to apply for NIACE Corporate membership. Any disputes regarding this must be settled by the organisation. You will be issued with a membership number which you should use when calling us to help identify you quickly.
3.2.4 It is the Corporate Member Representative's responsibility to ensure that details of NIACE Membership and its benefits are disseminated throughout the membership organisation.
3.2.5 NIACE reserves the right to withdraw membership from Corporate Members if the work of the organisation is no longer compatible with that of NIACE.
3.3. International Membership
3.3.1 NIACE International memberships (Corporate and Individual) are non-voting levels of membership.
3.3.2 International Membership applies to Individuals or Organisations outside of the UK and Ireland and who have a permanent address abroad. You will be issued with a membership number which you should use when calling us to help identify you quickly.
3.3.3 International Members are entitled to join NIACE Special Interest Groups via email.
3.3.4 Any costs incurred by usage of the benefits package are the responsibility of the International Member and will not be paid by NIACE. For example, costs incurred to attend a conference, event or networking in the UK.
3.4 Network Membership
3.4.1 NIACE Network membership is a non-voting level of membership available to those who support the work of NIACE.
3.4.2 NIACE reserves the right to refuse Network membership to an individual.
3.4.3 Network membership can be purchased for £1.00.
3.4.4 Network membership is offered as part of all NIACE paid for events (conferences or training courses) and is included within the price of the event (conference or training course). The cost of the event remains the same even if the individual chooses not to become a Network Member.
3.4.5 Network membership is for a period of one year from the date the membership is activated.
3.4.6 You are entitled to apply to upgrade your membership to full membership at anytime.
3.4.7 Network Members are entitled to join selected NIACE Special Interest groups.
3.4.8 Network Members will be updated via a regular e-bulletin.
3.4.9 All correspondence with Network Members will be via email unless special circumstances require alternative communication.
3.4.10 NIACE reserves the right to withdrawn Network membership and its benefits at anytime.
4 Membership Benefits
4.1 Member benefits are only available if subscription payments are up to date.
4.2 Member benefits may change without notice.
5 Terminating Membership
5.1 NIACE reserves the right to withdraw membership or to prevent any Member from renewing membership if the Member puts the Institute into disrepute.
5.2 NIACE reserves the right to withdraw membership if the member is deemed to have misused the membership privileges.
5.3 Members are not permitted to use NIACE's logo and/or name for the purposes of self-promotion on any of their organisational materials, including website.
5.4 Members are not permitted to use their membership status with NIACE for self-promotion.
5.5 If a member is found to have contravened the terms and conditions stated in 5.4 and 5.5 above membership may be terminated by NIACE without prior warning
6 Variation of Terms & Conditions
These terms and conditions may be revised from time to time. If they are revised, we will post or email the revised version to you. It will be your responsibility to keep up-to date with all such changes and your continued membership shall be deemed acceptance of any changes to these terms and conditions.
