Each year the European Association for the Education of Adults (EAEA) celebrates innovation and excellence in adult education through the EAEA Grundtvig Awards, which highlight projects that produce new ideas, partnerships, methodologies and understanding of working together in adult learning.

In 2013, EAEA is looking for projects that tackle Active citizenship and transnational solidarity – this year is the European Year of Citizens which can be used as a platform to promote and discuss civic education and active citizenship.

The deadline for applications to the EAEA Grundtvig Awards is 7 April 2013 - more information about the awards and applying here. The EAEA Grundtvig Awards Ceremony will be held during the General Assembly on 6-7 June 2013 in Leicester, UK.

Mark Ravenhall, NIACE Director of Policy and Impact, said:

"As a member of EAEA we are delighted to be co-hosting the Grundtvig Awards Ceremony this June in Leicester. Every year thousands of brilliant and innovative projects are supported by the EU Lifelong Learning Programme and in particular the Grundtvig strand. We welcome the focus on active citizenship and would encourage adult learning providers to put forward their Grundtvig project for this prestigious award."
