NIACE welcomes select committee report on post-16 skills

The publication of the House of Commons Education and Skills Committee’s Inquiry into Post-16 Skills has been warmly welcomed by NIACE.

Senior Policy Officer Alastair Thomson commented, “This report contains a balanced and measured assessment of government policy, highlighting achievements and causes for concern. We share many of the Committee’s worries about the Train to Gain initiative and also about the need for more public investment in adult learning.”

He continued, “NIACE hopes that Government will think hard about what the Committee recommends.”

NIACE also welcomes the Report’s comments about the impact of demographic change and about the provision of English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL).
