Developing Family Learning in Children’s Centres Friday, November 6, 2009 - 12:05
Family Learning is a well-developed way of breaking cycles of deprivation in families and research shows that it is effective in re-engaging adults in learning and supporting their children.
Family Learning: a multi agency approach - a project funded by the Lyon's Charity - worked with many London Boroughs to develop a best-practice programme in Children's Centres. Its findings will be disseminated at the Families, Learning and Children's Centres conference, held in London today.
Delegates will receive a resource pack - consisting of the project outline with case study examples and a short course guide - to support them in further developing Family Learning in Children's Centres. Delegates will also have the chance to explore the concept of the Learning Family and take part in interactive workshops.
The conference is particularly relevant for:
- Children's Centre managers and practitioners
- parenting commissioners
- voluntary sector organisations working with families
- Family Learning managers and practitioners
- all those involved in or interested in developing family learning
Two further dissemination events will be held in 2010.
