Digital Participation Consortium launched Thursday, October 15, 2009 - 17:07
The Consortium - launched by Ofcom Chairman Colette Bowe and Minister for Digital Britain Stephen Timms MP - will increase the reach of digital technology use and will encourage people to take up digital communication technologies by providing information, motivation and support.
Rachel Thomson, NIACE's representative on the Consortium, said:
"NIACE is delighted to be a founding member of the Digital Participation Consortium and looks forward to contributing actively to the social marketing and outreach campaign to engage more and different adults with a better and more inclusive digital world."
NIACE is one of over fifty members of the Consortium - alongside BT, the BBC, Channel 4 and BSkyB - contributing expertise and communications channels to promote Digital Participation. Membership is open to any organisation that can use its communication channels to inform and motivate people to become engaged with digital technologies or offer outreach to people who need support.
