Home Office recognition for NIACE work Monday, December 13, 2010 - 11:14
Three NIACE projects received recognition from the Home Office:
• A Woman's Place which has delivered learning to over 170 women who have never accessed adult learning in the UK before.
• The Gurkha Resettlement and Adult Learning project which over three years will support Gurkha spouses and families to integrate and resettle successfully into UK society.
• The Learning and Refugee Families project which in January 2011 will begin to provide family learning for refugee women and their children, along with guidance for refugee women who wish to become foster carers.
Chris Taylor, NIACE Programme Director for ESOL said:
"We are delighted to have received this kind of recognition for our work with three priority groups - women, Gurkha communities and refugee families. We have already achieved great success in A Woman's Place. Over the next three years, we expect the two other European-funded projects to be equally successful in meeting the English language needs of these adult learners."
"The Home Office event also provided a platform for organisations and projects funded through a range of European funds, to network, share experiences and forge essential partnerships for work in the future."
