The Learning Revolution

The next phase of the Learning Revolution - The Festival of Learning was launched yesterday by Kevin Brennan MP, Minister of State at the Department of Business, Innovation and Skills, at an Expo event at Spitalfields Market in London.

The Expo event was a chance for providers of adult learning to learn from each other, create new partnerships; and strengthen ideas and good practice.

Throughout the Expo delegates visited seven zones - each one was based on the seven Learning Revolution Pledges:

  • support the core principles of informal learning and encourage others to sign up
  • advocate wider participation, especially for those who have benefited least from learning
  • find flexible ways of using our existing spaces, or opening up new spaces, for learning
  • encourage and support learning organised by people for themselves
  • embrace new ways of learning, including the use of technology and broadcasting
  • find and work with new partners to increase learning opportunities
  • celebrate our successes

Delegates at the Expo were able to find out more information on projects and ideas that support informal adult learning in the following topics -

  • Arts & Crafts,
  • Nature & the Environment,
  • Sport,
  • Food & Drink,
  • Technology & Science; and
  • Culture.
