The free 2-hour maths taster sessions will model maths-learning through fun and interactive activities that participants can pass on to colleagues. Offered by NIACE to people working in the voluntary and community sector - following the launch of Maths4Us - the sessions will give individuals who have first-hand contact with adults in the community the enthusiasm and confidence to encourage them to take up maths-learning.

Linda Dixon, NIACE Project Officer for the Maths4Us initiative, said:

"The immediate response to the free sessions has been extremely positive. A wide range of organisations such as Housing Associations, football clubs, local authorities and Sure Start and those supporting the homeless, adults with disabilities, adults with mental health difficulties and the unemployed, have responded rapidly to the initial call out."

A 60 minute numeracy lesson plan can also be downloaded by organisations wanting to offer their own taster sessions.

Maths4Us is a joint initiative between NIACE, NCETM and unionlearn.
