National Digital Conference Wednesday, May 11, 2011 - 12:00
NIACE attended the sixth National Digital Conference (11 - 12 May), the largest gathering and online participation to date of partners across the UK who work together to inspire, encourage and support millions more people online. The conference announced a national programme of digital champions and NIACE Senior Project Officer, Susan Easton, accompanied volunteer champions nominated by NIACE and partner projects.
The event recognised the role of volunteers in overcoming the digital divide, and was followed by a policy conference, where NIACE supported workshop sessions as part of its partnership in the Making IT Personal Project.
Susan Easton, NIACE Senior Project Officer, said:
"NIACE has been working actively for over fifteen years to provide access to digital skills to adult learners, so we are delighted to be strategic partners of the Race online 2012 campaign."
Alastair Clark, NIACE Programme Manager, said:
"We welcome this initiative to mobilize ‘champions' to help people to take their first steps online. Once people have made that first move the online environment provides all sorts of benefits. Just one of these is the chance to learn online - that is why NIACE is adding its voice to the Race online 2012 campaign by saying ‘Go On learn something online'."
