New international education strategy Monday, September 14, 2009 - 14:56
The DFID intends to publish a new Education Strategy early in 2010 and is inviting comments to a public consultation exercise, by 30 October 2009.
Jan Eldred, NIACE's Associate Director for International work, said:
"NIACE is very pleased that the DFID is consulting widely in relation to the development of its new Education Strategy. The Millennium Development and Education for All goals cannot be achieved unless governments across the world develop life-wide and life-long learning policies and practices. The new strategy will provide an opportunity for developing approaches which means that not only goals directly related to learning, but also those wider goals related to health and gender equality can be achieved more effectively."
"NIACE encourages all organisations and agencies with any interest in issues of international development, to respond to the consultation exercise so that DFID can draw upon powerful visions, strong evidence and creative ideas to create a strategy which helps reduce global poverty through adult learning and the development of knowledge and skills."
