NIACE is calling for evidence for two different projects - one looking at the delivery of learning and skills to adults with learning difficulties and/or disabilities and one looking at coordinating the delivery of this learning and skills with other agencies - commissioned by the Adult Learning Skills and Employment Group at the Learning and Skills Council. Providers are invited to get involved with both projects.

Project 1 will look at what works well in the delivery of learning and skills to adults with learning difficulties and/or disabilities in England. NIACE wants to hear about:

  • what providers are doing well;
  • why it is working;
  • what barriers have been overcome; and
  • how learners have been successfully engaged.

Project 2 will look at what works well in the coordination of learning and skills with other agencies for adults with learning difficulties and/or disabilities in England. NIACE wants to hear about:

This research gives providers an opportunity to showcase their work in relation to adult learners.

Viv Berkeley, NIACE Programme Director

  • what work is being done with other agencies to coordinate learning;
  • who providers are working with;
  • what the process involves; and
  • any difficulties that were faced and how they were overcome.

Viv Berkeley, NIACE Programme Director, said:

"NIACE is delighted to have been commissioned to explore effective practice both in the delivery of learning and skills and in the coordination of services with other agencies, to adult learners with learning difficulties and/or disabilities."

"Adults, including those with learning difficulties and/or disabilities, are very often forgotten as policy tends to focus its attention on younger people. This research gives providers an opportunity to showcase their work in relation to adult learners. The findings of the research will be published in a report and launched at a Learning and Skills Council / Skills Funding Agency conference in late spring, early summer next year."
