NIACE maths focus extends its reach to London Friday, November 23, 2012 - 12:40
Building on the success of NIACE's maths activities at The Skills Show in Birmingham (15 - 17 Nov), the NIACE team was at Skills London (23 - 24 November) to further promote adult numeracy.
Hosted at the ExCel arena, Skills London was London’s biggest skills and careers event aimed at London’s young and future workforce. It was a central place for all information about future careers and opportunities for those aged 15-24, parents and teachers.
NIACE’ presence at The Skills Show focused on raising awareness of the importance of adult numeracy and stimulating interest in maths through a variety of challenges and activities. These included shopping for the ‘best offer’, calculating travel times and playing maths bingo. It was estimated that every 30 seconds a new visitor participated in a maths challenge or shared their experience of maths in our visitor’s book.
At Skills London, NIACE continued to promote adult numeracy and the many ways in which maths helps us in work, life, sport and family activities.
