The Future for Union Learning, published by unions21, was presented last week to the Trade Union Congress in Manchester.

Alan Tuckett, Chief Executive of NIACE, said:

"NIACE warmly welcomes the TUC recommendation that learners investing in their own learning should qualify for tax relief. After all what's sauce for the goose is sauce for the gander and we give tax relief to companies and self-employed people for the money they spend on training."

"Indeed it's individuals who have contributed more in the last few years to building a learning society."

"In tough times tax relief could make all the difference."

NIACE has also called for checks to be put in place for employer training tax relief in its Tax Relief for Training paper, submitted for the Spending Review.
