Training resource for family learning providers Thursday, August 5, 2010 - 10:26
The family learning workforce continues to increase in size and is required to work with a wider range of partners and organizations including, early years, heath professionals, social care, museums, galleries, libraries, sports centres and theatres. It is therefore vital that there is a range of relevant training on offer and Family Learning: Professional Practice has been developed by NIACE - in consultation with key practitioners and organisations in the sector - to meet these needs.
Clare Meade, Senior Programme Director for Family Learning at NIACE, said:
"Family learning practitioners come from a wide range of backgrounds and have a range of experiences and qualifications. Some are already trained schoolteachers or adult tutors, but all can benefit from some dedicated training or development in this specialised area."
"The units in Family Learning: Professional Practice have been written to integrate with existing qualifications for teachers in the lifelong learning sector. They have also been mapped to the National Occupational Standards for Family Learning and Working with Parents. This means our publication can become a core component of Continuing Professional Development to meet the needs of the workforce."
The following practitioners and organisations were consulted by NIACE to develop Family Learning: Professional Practice:
• Family Learning Local Authorities Group (FLLAG)
