Workshop supports self-organised learning Friday, October 29, 2010 - 09:53
Learning clubs and learning groups will give participants the chance to share ideas on different approaches to supporting self-organised informal learning groups and clubs. It will also introduce them to resources including suggestions on finding meeting spaces and getting the best from technology.
The workshop has been designed for those who support the development of informal learning groups and clubs - like outreach and development workers, staff in museums, libraries and archives, service staff in the health sector who support patient self-help groups, staff or members of faith groups, voluntary or community organisations and providers of adult learning courses.
Ian Yarroll, Regional Programme Director at NIACE, said:
"Since the publication of the ‘Learning Revolution' White Paper, there has been a growth in interest in learning groups and clubs which come in lots of shapes, sizes and flavours. In the same way, the people who support clubs and groups come from a wide range of backgrounds and this workshop will provide them with opportunities to network and to learn from the experiences of others."
"Clubs and groups offer just one way for adults to learn and this workshop will also explore how learners can move between self-organised learning and more structured informal and formal learning."
