Commission for Disabled Staff in Lifelong Learning

Deborah Persaud

Until recently, Deborah Persaud had been head of Diversity and Equality at the Centre for Excellence in Leadership, with a primary aim of diversifying sector leadership. The role covers CEL’s activities as an employer, delivery of programmes and services, and contributing to sector-wide policy issues.

Prior to being seconded to CEL, Debs had a 15-year career in the Department for Education and Skills at a senior level. Experience includes working in a Minister’s private office and organising international trade missions. In the policy field, Debs has run public consultations on school funding and post-16 reorganisation, as well as heading the learning and skills leadership project. She has recently returned to the DfES to work on implementing the Leitch Review of Skills.
