Disability Rights Commission (DRC)
Monica Kreel works for the Strategic Enforcement Team of the Disability
Rights Commission, and has been project managing the DRC's formal investigation
looking at discrimination against disabled teachers, nurses and social workers.
She has been at the DRC since its early days, seven years ago. In that time
she has worked on the DDA (Disability Discrimination Act) statutory codes of
practice for employment, as has contributed to research projects on
qualifications bodies, health and safety, and occupational health.
Previously she has worked for other disability organisations, including the
RNIB. Monica has contributed to employment projects of the MS Society and has MS
herself. She has a public appointment on the Care Records Development Board,
which advises the NHS on electronic records.
Monica is the PCS equalities representative at her workplace. She has two
children and has been a school governor at her daughter's primary school in
Haringey, North London.
