Pat Dyson

Pat took up post at RNIB as National Post Compulsory Education and Training (PCET) Manager in June 2006. Prior to this Pat worked for the SW Regional LSC as a Regional Skills for Life (SfL) Adviser leading on capacity building of the SfL infrastructure in the SW through the LSC Skills for Life Quality Initiative (LSCSfLQI).

Previously Pat worked for Gloucestershire County Council as Senior Project Manager of the Gloucestershire Skills Unit SfL Professional Development Centre leading professional development for SfL staff in Gloucestershire. Here Pat was involved with the LSCSfLQI as a facilitator for two years and also worked as a NIACE consultant on the national project Learning for Living – Developing Access to SfL for Learners with Learning Difficulties and/or Disabilities.

Before working in Gloucestershire Pat was at Birmingham Rathbone, a voluntary sector work-based learning organisation for people with mild to moderate learning difficulties, as Quality Manager for the Learning, Skills and Employment Division. Whilst in this role Pat trained as an Adult Learning Inspectorate Associate Inspector. Pat is now a practising Ofsted Additional Inspector in the Preparation for Life and Work Area of Learning primarily inspecting Workstep, New Deal and Entry to Employment.

Prior to joining Birmingham Rathbone Pat worked for 24 years for Jobcentre Plus in a range of managerial roles in local and regional offices.

Since joining RNIB in 2006 Pat has been appointed a Council Member for SKILL and also sits on the recently launched Commission for Disabled Staff in Lifelong Learning.

Pat is married with no children, and enjoys going to the gym, eating out, meeting friends and Body Boarding!
