Commission for Disabled Staff in Lifelong Learning

Steve Jackson

Steve Jackson is a Deputy Director in the Department for Education and Skills, currently responsible for policy on Learners with Learning Difficulties and/or Disabilities. He is leading a project to produce a cross government strategy on this area in conjunction with the Department of Health and the Department for Work and Pensions.

After university Steve began training as a chartered accountant but switched to train as a careers adviser including experience as a special needs adviser. He has been the Chief Executive of two careers companies, and was Chief Executive of Shropshire, Telford and Wrekin Connexions Partnership prior to joining the Department for Education and Skills as Head of Operations in the Connexions National Unit. He has also been chair of two regeneration companies, a higher education consortium and run an education/business partnership.

Steve has been a Diversity Champion, and is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts.
