Aims and Objectives

The aims and objectives are:

bulletTo shape a positive attitude in society towards this marginalized group.

Activities and lessons learned

The project undertook and shared the results of research into the needs and technologies required to support people with disabilities through a series of partnership meetings in participating countries, the Internet and face-to-face research with people with disabilities and practitioners working with disabled people.

These activities have been concluded by sharing, learning, promoting and applying good and modern practices, experiences and methods; finally leading to the improvement of quality and accessibility of disabled people to education.

Achievements

The main achievements were:

bulletGreater awareness and shared understanding of what is available in the field of computer and assistive technologies for people with disabilities;
bulletSharing and exchanging examples of good and best practice within the partnership;
bulletDevelopment of a bilingual manual of good practices written in English and in the native language of the participating countries, published on paper and on the Internet – a Website and Web Blog will be specially created for this purpose.

Materials produced

The end product will be a bilingual manual of good practices written in English and in the native language of the participating countries, published on paper and on the Internet – a Website and Web Blog will be specially created for this purpose.

Web and computer based information is available through partnership websites. See, for example, http://www.tfei.org.uk

PowerPoint presentations have been used to share the research and highlight the issues to be considered when supporting disabled people.

Partnership organisations / countries

Romania, Bulgaria, Italy, Netherlands, Turkey, Lithuania and UK are involved including not for profit / non-governmental organisations, training and support providers for people with disabilities, e-learning developers, providers of adult education and/or continuing education.
