Women in Europe

[Case Studies by Region] [Case Studies by Category]

Aims and objectives

The main aim of the project was to promote the value of education and training amongst disadvantaged women in Europe, with a view to using their skills and knowledge to develop an information bank in the form of an online directory of locally based women’s services and ultimately to establish a women’s network.

Activities and lessons learned

Each of the participating countries established a learner group, where each learner had the opportunity to complete training in ICT, essential skills, presentation and communication skills. In addition, staff and learners attended trans-national meetings. A website and on-line directory was constructed and the exchange of newssheets designed by the learners was used to share information. Subsequently, research on potential women’s organisations within partner countries began.

Achievements

The primary outcomes from the project include the website: www.eurwoman.com.

An online directory will be accessible publicly from August 2006.

Materials produced

To disseminate details of the project widely a brochure outlining the aims and details of partner organisations was produced alongside newssheets, the website and on-line directory.
