Continuing Professional Development for
Faith Leaders and Workers

Image of people from different faiths

The overall aim of the programme is to develop the communication, negotiation, representation and other skills of faith leaders, workers and volunteers so that they can operate more effectively and confidently within their own communities.

In April 2007 NIACE was asked by the DIUS (formerly known as DfES) Further Education Reform Unit and Communities and Local Government (CLG) to set out a proposal for continuing professional development for faith leaders.

In the context of NIACE’s work in community development, the opportunity to work with faith leaders is most welcome and links with a number of projects where NIACE has consulted with a wide range of community groups and developed training using a ‘bottom up’ model of consultation, piloting, development and delivery.
