Funding for Consortia

As with the majority of VCOs, Consortia derive their funding from a number of sources. A diverse funding base ensures that Consortia are not over reliant of one funder, such as the LSC, or more precisely, from one funding stream. However, it can mean that Consortia need to report differently, and use a range of systems to report on their activities to funders.

Quality, monitoring, evaluation and management systems

One of the most challenging aspects of Consortia work is to ensure that appropriate systems are in place to report to funders and achieve against their quality inspections. This challenge is often the result of Consortia's wide funding base and they are often asked to measure against a wide range of quality systems and criteria. Systems may refer to the organisation or to the quality of delivery or both.

As well as formal quality systems, a number of funders may require specific management systems be put in place to satisfy their audit demands.
