This publication aims to provide the teacher of English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) with a practical and informative guide to the introduction of e-learning into ESOL classes. Without technical jargon, it covers the use of a variety of equipment, the creation of learning materials and offers ideas for teaching and learning activities.

The guide includes descriptions of the use of computers and other technology such as interactive whiteboards and digital cameras. Throughout the text, practical ideas are put forward to encourage the ESOL tutor to see technology as a resource for enhancing the quality of teaching and learning inside and outside the classroom.

Suggested activities are related to the Core Curriculum for ESOL and relevant to the adult ESOL learner in the UK. Technical expertise is not assumed. For ESOL practitioners with increasing access to computers and the internet, the guidelines offer accessible and easy-to-implement ideas.
