Mental Health and Visual Impairment

This project is an initial briefing on how mental health difficulties are being addressed for people who are blind or partially sighted.

NIACE is linking with a specialist residential college for the blind that has noticed an increase in the mental health needs of their learners and the lack of information and support for these learners.

At present there is very little literature apart from research regarding sight loss in older age or regarding the immediate onset of sight loss. The briefing paper is being prepared at present.
