Valuing People and Post-16 EducationGuidelinesProject Status: Completed The national Learning and Skills Council (LSC) and the Valuing People Support Team (VPST) have jointly issued a set of guidelines: Valuing People and Post-16 Education. They provide information and guidelines for Learning Disability Partnership Boards, Learning and Skills Councils and others, to improve access to education and training for adults with learning disabilities. There is a learning disability partnership board in each Local Authority in England. It is the partnership boards role to make sure that the learning disability White Paper Valuing People is implemented in their area. The Valuing People principles of rights, independence, choice and inclusion are compatible with NIACE’s work on post-16 education for people with learning difficulties. In 2003/2004 a member of the NIACE Health & Disability Equality team was seconded to advise the Valuing People Support team on post-16 education. The development of the guidelines was a key part of the joint work between NIACE, the Valuing People Support team and the LSC. The publication of the guidelines in 2004 marked the start of a joint programme of work between the national LSC and the VPST. NIACE will continue to support the development of this key strategic partnership. The
guidelines can be downloaded here as a PDF file: Yola Jacobsen _________________________________________ Related Links:
