A Health Promoting College for 16-19 year Old Learners

Project Status: Completed

This report looks at whether Colleges of Further Education could be appropriate environments to promote health and well-being among 16-19 year old learners, and in so doing, promote social inclusion and raise educational achievement.

The report examines:

bulletwhat literature exists that shows how colleges and health have been linked;
bulletthe policy and research content which would affect the implementation of a healthy college standard;
bulletwhat young people want;
bulletexamples of good practice showing what colleges have done and how this has worked;
bulletwhat a healthy college standard might look like; and
bulletwhat challenges and barriers exist that might prevent the successful implementation of a standard.
