Training for Part Time Workers
NIACE has completed a development project, supported by the European Social Fund's Employment NOW programme, the main focus of which was the improvement of training and development opportunities for part time and other flexible workers in small and medium sized enterprises (SMEs).
The project involved SME managers, training providers in identifying the specific problems smaller organisations have in training part-time and other flexible workers, to seek possible ways of overcoming these and to collect examples of good practice that can be disseminated to other firms.
From this, a guide "Develop the Worker, Develop the Business" has been produced to help SMEs overcome some of the challenges of developing part-time staff, inform them of resource available nationally and locally and provide case studies of good practice.
