Brent Adult & Continuing Education Services

We have used our laptops in a variety of settings, frequently with the assistance of a tutor. They have been most useful as aids to our widening participation programme. The computers are attractive and interesting to members of the public and very accessible and user friendly. Many people are scared of or have not had access to computers before. We have found that the use of laptops in community settings have provided people with the confidence to consider enrolment on our courses. We have used the laptops in taster sessions and more informal sessions.

Amongst the venues were:

bulletsupermarkets.
bulletoutreach work on the Stonebridge estate.
bulletlocal job centres.
bulleta local homeless families centre.
bulleta local infants school- I enclose a press cutting which also shows the laptop being used in a taster held there.

We also have many more venues in the local community which we will be visiting with the laptops in future.
