Portslade Community College

Following our telephone conversation earlier today, I am now faxing a copy of the line drawing, which a colleague (Will Green) drew last week. I am no artist so I need his help to convey the picture which keeps returning to my mind every time I am asked to describe a tutor’s experience (mine) of taking laptops into the community (mostly to adults aged between 60 and 85).

I started with three laptops purchased by Portslade Community College as part of the original project funded by NIACE; then the Community Education Department of Brighton and Hove Council purchased ten more laptops which can be booked by community groups; and now there seem to be six more laptops on loan from the DfES.

Colleagues in the Community Education Department at Portslade Community College which would like to be credited (names can be supplied) with the following captions- "When I was her age I’d have been able to carry at least ten of those laptops at a time!" "You can see she’s getting better at teaching- she can carry at least seven laptops at a time now!"

"Have you noticed- her arms seem to have stretched since she started teaching us?"

"NIACE to see you, to see you NIACE".
