Adult Learners' Week |
Adult Learners’ Week, the UK’s largest celebration of learning, takes place in May each year. Adult Learners’ Week gives you the opportunity to make a difference to the lives of other people in your workplace whilst helping you to reach your own business objectives. Adult Learners’ Week is about enabling employers and employee representatives to plan, run and celebrate learning events to engage more and different people in learning. Why not try a “skills audit” of your existing employees to find out what skills and interests they have outside of those needed to do the job? Encouraging the workforce to share their skills and experience is an excellent way to kick start adult learning activities. Perhaps a first step to adult learning could be to invite a couple of members of the workforce to share non-work-related knowledge or a skill, such as languages, computer skills or genealogy. Winning stories are the main content for this media coverage, so organisations and employers that have winning nominations or that hold events will always be mentioned.
